After an exhaustive analysis of searches in recent months, Semrush has concluded that interest in two of the films nominated for Best Film has skyrocketed. The story of Maixabel Lasa , the widow of Juan María Jauregui, murdered by ETA, generated more than 300,000 searches on average in Spain between October and November 2021. This film, directed by Icíar Bollaín , has obtained the same number of searches as Pedro Almodóvar 's film Madres Paralelas .

Meanwhile, El Buen Patrón , the film by Fernando León de Aranoa selected to represent Spain at the Oscars, reached 135,000 registrations in the same period. However, it has remained more stable in the following months.
Marcel Barrena 's film Mediterráneo , also nominated for a Goya, received an average of 60,000 online searches in October. Finally, Libertad , by director Clara Roquet , reached almost 15,000 average searches in November 2021 .
Among directors, Pedro Almodóvar was the most searched for in Spain. He reached a peak of between 50,000 and 74,000 searches on average in November , followed by Icíar Bollaín, with almost 50,000 searches on average in September . Behind them is Fernando León de Aranoa, who exceeded 33,000 searches on average in the same month.

Behind her is actress Emma Suárez, nominated for Josefina , who obtains almost 30,000 searches on average.
Finally, Milena Smit has been the surprise of this year. Although until now she was a great unknown, her nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Almodóvar's film has boosted her popularity. In fact, until February 2021 there were no search records for this name, but her role in Madres Paralelas has led to her reaching an average of 110,000 online searches.
