In his address to the plenary session of the Conference on the Future of the Dairy Sector held today in the Belgian capital, Román Santalla denounced the poor business practices of some dairy industries and demanded improvements in the negotiating capacity of farmers and in the contractual relationships between them and the industry.

Likewise, the UPA Livestock Secretary denounced that some Spanish dairy industries are threatening farmers with not collecting milk, while delaying payments to producers.

Román Santalla concluded by arguing that it is necessary graphic design services to implement measures so that farmers "know what they will receive for their milk" and expressed his confidence that there will finally be a genuine political will to implement the guidelines agreed upon at this Conference so that the sector can definitively achieve the stability and viability so desired by farmers.

The main objective of the Conference on the Future of the Dairy Sector was to provide concrete solutions to address the major problems facing the European dairy sector in general and the Spanish dairy sector in particular.

Given this outright territorial rejection of Minister Miguel Sebastián's plan to build a centralized nuclear waste dump, coupled with the social backlash the project has generated, Greenpeace believes that the process undertaken by the Ministry of Industry can now be considered a failure.

"The image Spain is projecting in the midst of the European Presidency is regrettable, receiving a blow from the Commission for subsidizing coal, the fuel that most contributes to climate change. It's no surprise that the Polish government—the largest supporter of coal in Europe—identifies Spain as the ideal potential ally to halt the EU's progress in the international fight against climate change," concluded Aida Vila, head of the Climate Change and Energy campaign at Greenpeace.
