How has Covid-19 changed Easter activities in Latin America?
The Covid-19 pandemic has affected many economic sectors, however one of the most sensitive since the beginning of the crisis at the end of 2019 has been the tourism, restaurant and events industries, which have one of their highest income peaks during the Easter holidays.
According to the latest report from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the sector is suffering its deepest crisis with a 74% drop in 2020 in international arrivals of tourists who spend more than one night at the destination they are headed to.
On the other hand, the collapse of international travel represents an estimated loss of USD 1.3 trillion in export earnings, more than 11 times the loss recorded during the global economic crisis of 2009.

We identified 98K mentions regarding terms about Easter. Most of the conversation took place on Twitter, reaching the largest potential audience. Regarding the sentiment projected by these interactions, 46% was neutral, followed by 35% negative sentiment and finally positive sentiment with 19%.

During these holidays, people avoid carrying out daily responsibilities, which is why we find multiple conversations about restaurants and delivery services.
