Ana guides us in this conversation to talk about the importance of building opportunities for women in the music industry.

Our guest, María Linares, is a composer, singer and cultural manager, founder of Fiona Records, a company dedicated to composing original music for audiovisual projects. She is the director of Grita.io with Tomás Uribe. She has composed original music and songs for documentaries, series and short fiction films in Colombia, Panama, Mexico indian email list and the United States. She has produced film concerts in venues such as Movistar Arena, Teatro Estudio del Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, Cinemateca de Bogotá, Iglesia de San Pedro in Cartagena, among others.
She founded Fiona Records in 2014, where she has composed music for film, series, television and documentaries on platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Nickelodeon in Latin America and the United States. She has also been a speaker at events such as the Cartagena International Film Festival, Bogotá Music Market and Festival Villa del Cine, among others. She is a founding member and former president of Mucine (Colombian Association of Film Music Composers) and the Women in Music Colombia team.
In this episode to commemorate Women's Month, we'll discuss the crucial role of women within the music industry and the imperative need to make their talent and contributions visible. It highlights how women have challenged stereotypes and barriers in a field historically dominated by men. The achievements of women in music are celebrated, but also to encourage a cultural shift towards gender equity and inclusion in the industry.
