How big can a summer house be without planning permission?
If the summerhouse is to be sited less than 2m from the eu phone numbers edge of a boundary, you will need to choose a building with a height of no more than 2.5m. All of our Scotts summerhouse models have roof heights that meet these standards. Only our largest Burleigh, Newhaven Corner summerhouses and Sunshine Gardens rooms cannot be built with a modified height roof. Let us know at the outset where you intend to site your summerhouse and we can guide you to the most suitable model and roof style combination for your chosen site.

Under Permitted Development (Class F), you are allowed to build a solid foundation or footing for your summer house, so it is unlikely that this element of the project will require planning permission. However, remember that the foundation material will need to be solid and it may add 20cm - 30cm or more to the overall height of the building. In most cases, you should be able to choose a model that meets both your vision and the permitted development guidelines.

Here are some of the Scott Summerhouses our customers have installed under licensed developments:

We installed this 3.4m sun garden room with a reduced pitch natural cedar shingle roof.

Our 2.4m Burleigh Summer House creates a striking octagonal feature within this setting, with a roof made from western red cedar shingles rising just under 2.5m.
