Is GeenStijl really received as uk phone number they would like to see themselves? Because isn't GeenStijl just something from the past? Something nostalgic, or better said, faded glory? We did desk research, spoke to 'reaguurders' and did an image study to see how the Netherlands views GeenStijl.

This research was conducted in April 2023 with our research tool ProBAR 3.0 among 203 Dutch people over the age of 18. They answered questions about the brand awareness of GeenStijl and the associations that respondents have with the brand, but also about the brand values of GeenStijl, the attitude and resonance of the brand based on the Keller pyramid. Furthermore, the respondents answered questions about whether they would support or miss GeenStijl in its absence, and what the ideal user of the platform is. The fieldwork was carried out in collaboration with Validators.
A bit back in time. GeenStijl used to be part of the Telegraaf Media Group (TMG), where it provided 2% of the total income ! After the sale of TMG to the Flemish Media House in 2018, GeenStijl was sold separately from Dumpert. The Flemish Media House wanted to focus on professional journalism with a certain ethic and concluded that GeenStijl does not match that, partly due to GeenStijl's call to place sexist compliments.
